End Of Year Musings

Thunder Row has been a busy place in 2013, and I haven't had as much time to keep this blog up to date as I would have liked.  But we have kept everybody informed on important topics, and have always provided links to the Row; the invitation is still open to visit as often as you like.

I wanted to take a bit of time to review what we've accomplished.

We've featured some really outstanding musician interviews and album reviews.  Click HERE to see some of the bassists we've spoken to, and the albums we've given a spin!

Bernhard Lackner, Sean O'Bryan Smith, Antoine Fafard, Jeff Berlin, Zander Zon - these are just some of the names of musicians whose albums we've reviewed.  All good stuff, for sure.

Our exclusive game, "Skin DEEP" has seen some gorgeous basses highlighted.  Skin DEEP is a game of OUTER beauty, where we acknowledge the people who design how a bass will look.  When a bass catches your eye, it will always be because of first glances.  The look!  We plan to continue the game into 2014.  The rounds can be found in our OFF TOPIC area.  You have to be a member to vote, so sign up today!

Speaking of signing up, many new wise people have purchased Roy Vogt's Teach Me Bass Guitar and are well on their way to becoming skilled musicians.  Check out these posts of TMBG students showing off their skills.

There are more students making their way through the course - not everybody posts their progress in video or mp3, but they're still making their way up the ladder!

We've posted videos of some nice Christmas songs by our friends.

And I even dug out my fave Bass Christmas Poem for the holidays!

Now, let's talk about ROY VOGT'S BASS BOOT CAMP, coming up in 2014.  You have to own a copy of TMBG to get in on the action.  Buy yours today and book a slot! Hurry!  I think there are only 4 spots left!

We've also been doing some house-cleaning for the new year.  Organising, streamlining, re-arranging. We're trying to clean up some of the posts and articles that have become cluttered.  Most importantly, we've fixed a bunch of posts and lesson material that - for various reasons - had lost their attachments.  THIS is one of the areas that got a complete make-over.  There are other areas, but they are private and exclusive to TMBG owners ONLY (one of the benefits of owning the course!).  In 2014, we plan to continue the clean-up, so things are easier to find and use.

Stay tuned for more on Thunder Row!  2014 should be a great year!

Mugs and Aristocrats

Whew! Been awhile since I've had a chance to blog for the Row. But that doesn't mean there hasn't been a lot going on deep down in Thunderland! We've got the Roy Vogt's Fantasy Bass Boot Camp happening this weekend. The lucky students going to Camp this year are sure to come back with some great stories, and - of course - we'll be posting their pix and experiences for you to see. They're already planning for next year's bass camp, so make sure you visit Thunder Row on a regular basis to keep up on the announcements.

I am very excited about the announcement that Teach Me Bass Guitar is trying to rally up enough support to order a shipment of Custom Coffee Mugs! You don't have to be a member of Thunder Row to get in on this. All you have to do is send an email to david@thelearningdock.com and express your interest in getting a mug. We're not taking orders yet - just gauging the interest level. You see, they sell the mugs in groups of 24, so we'd have to garner at least 24 emails of interest to see if it's feasible to place an order. You have until the end of August to send the email, so get at it! These mugs are gorgeous! Show your support for Roy Vogt's Teach Me Bass Guitar.

We have also posted the latest video from new bass student, Alona Raevska. If you missed it, Alona is a newbie who is posting lesson-by-lesson videos of her journey through TMBG. In this installment, she shows us that she has learned the parts of the bass guitar and the names of the strings. For a new student, who's never had any bass instruction before now, these are the first steps to becoming a full-fledged bass guitarist! Check out the new video HERE.

Our latest album review is CULTURE CLASH by The Aristocrats. It's a great collection of songs!

Oh, and speaking of The Aristocrats, Thunder Row is giving away two FREE copies of Culture Clash. Draw is open to EVERYBODY and will be made on the 15th of August. Read the INFO and RULES and send in your entry!

We all know prices increase, and unfortunately, TMBG is not immune. The price of Roy Vogt's course will be going up after the end of August. Read about it HERE, and then read HERE to understand the true value of getting this great course!

Lastly, we've just re-posted an older lesson by Roy Vogt. Some time back, some of the supplemental material had been lost during a forum upgrade, but we've re-located it, so the lesson is available again! Just click HERE for the lesson and downloadable supplements.

Summer On The Row

As we approach the Summer months, Thunder Row will be filling those warm hours with plenty of bass goodies to keep you thinking MUSIC!

Summer is a great time to start thinking about starting those lessons you've always wanted. Roy Vogt's Teach Me Bass Guitar is like having your own private teacher at the campground or beach. How many of us take our laptops with us when we go on holiday? I know I always take mine! If your laptop has a DVD player, take TMBG with you wherever you go, and you'll always have your lessons close at hand. You can pack your bass and that small practice amp, and practice on the fly!

Check out Thunder Row this week. We show Italian bassist, Alberto Rigoni, testing out his new Dingwall bass. It's enough to give me GAS, y'all!

We've just completed our review of Jeff Berlin's latest album, Low Standards. Get the lowdown HERE, and then check out Jeff's own words about the album HERE, as he talks to Thunder Row.

Thunder Row wishes Chuck Rainey a Happy Birthday!

Ever see a steel, round-neck bass? Check out the Stash Stainless Steel Bass HERE.

Stay tuned! Teach Me Bass Guitar will be revealing its new MERCH, including T-Shirts and Coffee Mugs with our new slogan, "I Bleed Bass."

Zander And Alona

This week, we take a look at the new album by bassist, Zander Zon. SATURN RETURN is now available everywhere, and it's well worth it! Remarkable skill, that Zon fellah! Check out our review on Thunder Row.

The other big news on Thunder Row this week is that we are starting a new feature.Brand new bass student, Alona Raevska, will be taking us along for her journey through the Teach Me Bass Guitar lessons. She will be posting videos of her progress, and giving us comments and insight into the process. Read up and check out her first posting HERE.
