Gettin' Down On The Row

Did you see who won the bronze, silver, and gold medals in this issue of Skin DEEP? What is Skin DEEP, you ask?  It's our weekly game where we pay homage to the designers of the bass guitar. Never mind how they sound, never mind how expensive or inexpensive, never mind status and reputation. We just want to feature basses head to head and see who's got the LOOKS! Here are the MEDAL WINNERS.  e'll be starting up a new series soon enough, but you gotta be a member to vote. Sign up HERE.

By the way, I don't know if we've ever mentioned it, but we make every effort to keep Thunder Row completely free of spam. Nobody likes to participate in a forum where every third post is a link to some joker's porn website, or an ad for this or that great offer. Forget that! We do like to feature promotional material and/or Press Releases for artists who have new projects coming out, but it's all music-related, and all pre-approved for your enjoyment! Like THIS ONE for example. Bassist and friend to Thunder Row, Bryan Beller, and his band, The Aristocrats, have a new album coming out, so we're happy to give them some space to let people know!

So you will never be bogged down in spam, all member sign-ups to Thunder Row are approved through a manual vetting process. It takes a little longer than when signing up for some other forums, but your ultimate acceptance means you will be joining a family-friendly, spam-free community. And should someone with spammy intentions accidentally slip under our radar, their membership will be deleted - without exception - upon the first spam post. Of course, if you have purchased TMBG and enter the special code in your registration, your membership is automatically approved!

Okay, enough about our iron-boot policy on spam. Let's get back to the good stuff.

Our FINGERBOARD EXERCISE video helps you learn the notes on the fretboard of your bass. As you watch the video, see if you can call out the names of the notes before they are revealed. The more you do the exercise, the better you'll get!

Thanksgiving in the USA is fast approaching. What are you thankful for? I jotted down a few thoughts on the subject. Read all about it HERE. When you're done, sign up so you can tell us all what YOU are thankful for!

What's Your Mood?

Now that you've read our review of HBC on Thunder Row, click HERE to see what Jeff Berlin has to say about the album and what's next for him.

What do you think of the Ibanez Grooveline Bass? Check out our feature on The Row!

And while you're here, why not join us Thunder Row? Join in the conversations! We'd love to hear what you have to say about the BASS! It is the best instrument in the world, after all. But you already know that!

Have you seen the West boys play? Check out Nick West and his brothers on Thunder Row. (video links in the COMMENT section) Nick is one of the youngest (if not the youngest) of all Teach Me Bass Guitar students!! Supporting our young musicians is so important. Nick? You and your brothers do us all proud!

Are YOU already a student of TMBG? If you submit a video of yourself playing one of the lessons, you could be featured on the TMBG web page  Info in the article link above!

And finally, let's leave you with one last thought for today...

When you dive into Roy Vogt's Teach Me Bass Guitar (the best self-paced DVD bass instruction course EVER), you'll find that music has the power to both reward you and soothe you at the same time. Music is universal; it always works, no matter how you feel. It can bolster an already happy mood, or surround you in a blanket of peace when things aren't going well. It won't fix the economy, unemployment, or any of the other real world situations we all face every day, but when you hold your bass in your hands and hear her sing her low-toned song, you will be okay. Get the course and feel the power for yourself.
